penny One Hundred and One DalmatiansWho is Penny?

Penny is a minor but memorable character from Disney’s One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961). She is one of the fifteen Dalmatian puppies born to Pongo and Perdita, the protagonists of the film.

Penny is a playful and sweet-natured pup who, like her siblings, finds herself in danger when the villainous Cruella de Vil kidnaps them to use their fur for a coat. While she doesn’t have a significant amount of screen time or lines, Penny’s adorable demeanor and bravery make her a fan favorite among the puppies.

As with most of the animal characters in the film, Penny’s personality is conveyed through animation and voice work. The animators gave her distinctive expressions that help her stand out among the other puppies. Penny was voiced by actress Mimi Gibson, who also provided the voice for other Disney characters during the 1950s and 60s. Gibson’s youthful and innocent tone contributed to Penny’s charm and relatability.
