Who is River Scott?
River Scott is a character from Cars 3, the third installment in Disney and Pixar’s Cars franchise.
A classic and seasoned race car, River Scott is one of the legends of the Piston Cup series who paved the way for future racers. Modeled after real-life racers from the mid-20th century, River Scott embodies the grit and determination of early stock car drivers. He is inspired by Wendell Scott, the first African American driver to win a race in what is now the NASCAR Cup Series, and is a tribute to Scott’s trailblazing career and perseverance in a challenging era.
In Cars 3, River Scott is one of the retired racers who gathers at Thomasville, the training grounds for Lightning McQueen as he prepares to make a comeback. He shares his wisdom and stories with McQueen and his crew, providing insights into the sport’s history and its roots.
The character is voiced by Isiah Whitlock Jr., a well-known actor recognized for his roles in various television series and films, including The Wire.
