Who is Si & Am?

Si and Am are the mischievous Siamese cats from Disney’s 1955 animated classic, Lady and the Tramp.

Known for their conniving nature and distinctive duet, “The Siamese Cat Song,” they play a pivotal role in creating chaos for Lady, the film’s titular cocker spaniel. Their antics include causing trouble in the home, such as attempting to steal food and toppling household items, all while blaming Lady for the mess. Their actions ultimately lead to Lady being fitted with a muzzle, driving much of the movie’s plot.

Si and Am are voiced by singer-actress Peggy Lee, who also provided voices for other characters in the film, such as Darling (Lady’s owner) and Peg (a stray dog). Lee’s distinctive voice and musical talents brought the sly, melodic harmonies of “The Siamese Cat Song” to life. This song, though memorable, has drawn criticism in modern times for perpetuating cultural stereotypes.

Si and Am remain iconic figures in Disney history, representing a mix of humor and villainy. Their roles were reimagined in Disney’s 2019 live-action/CGI remake of Lady and the Tramp, where they were replaced by Devon and Rex, two troublemaking cats with a fresh approach to their mischievous behavior.
