Who is Slim?

Slim is a memorable character from Disney and Pixar’s animated film A Bug’s Life (1998). He is a stick insect who works as a circus performer in P.T. Flea’s traveling troupe.

Slim a bugs life

True to his nature, Slim’s talent involves mimicking a stick, which is often mistaken as dull by those around him. However, Slim is far from unremarkable. With a sarcastic wit and an eye for dramatic flair, Slim often serves as comic relief in the movie. He has a penchant for exasperation, particularly when his physical resemblance to a stick leads to humorous misunderstandings, such as being used as a prop or mistaken for an actual twig.

Despite his frustrations with the circus and his role in it, Slim proves to be a valuable member of the group when they band together to help the ant colony fend off a group of oppressive grasshoppers. His sense of camaraderie and loyalty shines through, showcasing his depth beyond his comedic tendencies.

Slim is voiced by actor David Hyde Pierce, best known for his role as Dr. Niles Crane on the TV sitcom Frasier.
