Who is Smokey?
Smokey is a key character introduced in Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3.
A seasoned pickup truck and former crew chief, Smokey is a 1940s Hudson truck designed to resemble a 1946 Hudson pickup with a weathered, rustic look that reflects his life of hard work. He hails from the small town of Thomasville, which serves as a nostalgic nod to the golden age of racing. Smokey plays a pivotal role as a mentor to Lightning McQueen during his comeback journey after a devastating crash.
Smokey’s connection to racing history runs deep; he was the crew chief and close friend of Doc Hudson, the legendary racer who served as Lightning’s original mentor.
