Who is Sox?
Sox is a charming robotic cat introduced in Pixar’s 2022 animated film Lightyear.
The character is a robotic companion given to Buzz Lightyear by Star Command to provide emotional support and assistance. Despite being mechanical, Sox displays a warm and endearing personality, often bringing levity to tense situations with his quirky behavior and humorous one-liners. Equipped with advanced technology, Sox proves himself indispensable, helping Buzz navigate complex challenges during his adventures. His abilities include hacking into systems, analyzing data, and even shooting tranquilizer darts when necessary. These skills make him much more than a sidekick, as he frequently saves the day with his quick thinking and versatility.
Sox is voiced by actor Peter Sohn, who is no stranger to Pixar fans. Sohn has lent his voice to several memorable characters in the past, including Emile in Ratatouille and Squishy in Monsters University. Beyond voice acting, Sohn is also an accomplished filmmaker and animator, having directed the Pixar film The Good Dinosaur.
