Who is The Backson?

The Backson is an imaginary creature featured in the 2011 Disney animated film Winnie the Pooh. Although the Backson does not actually exist, he becomes a source of concern and fear for the characters in the Hundred Acre Wood due to a misunderstanding.

The Backson (Winnie the Pooh)The idea of the Backson is introduced when Christopher Robin leaves a note saying he’ll be “back soon,” but Owl misreads it as “Backson,” convincing everyone that a fearsome creature named the Backson has taken Christopher Robin away. This prompts Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and the others to set a trap for the supposed creature. Throughout the story, the Backson is imagined as a terrifying monster, though it’s simply the characters’ fears run wild.

The Backson character is voiced by actor and comedian Huell Howser in the animated sequences where they envision the creature’s antics.
