Who is The Horned King?

The Horned King is a menacing and dark antagonist from Disney’s The Black Cauldron (1985), an animated film inspired by Lloyd Alexander’s The Chronicles of Prydain series. He is depicted as a skeletal, horned figure clad in tattered robes, embodying a sinister and otherworldly presence.

As the ruler of a crumbling castle, he seeks the mystical Black Cauldron to summon an undead army, the Cauldron-Born, to conquer the world and spread terror. His character is notable for his chilling voice and ominous demeanor, standing out as one of Disney’s most fearsome villains.

The Horned King was voiced by the legendary John Hurt, an acclaimed British actor known for his diverse roles in films such as The Elephant Man, Alien, and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, where he portrayed Mr. Ollivander.
