Who is Trigger the Vulture?
Trigger the Vulture is a character from Disney’s animated film Robin Hood (1973).
Alongside his counterpart, Nutsy, Trigger serves as one of the bumbling henchmen of Prince John, the story’s main antagonist. The two vultures are members of the villainous sheriff’s forces, acting as guards and enforcers, but their incompetence often leads to humorous situations. Trigger, with his thin build and quirky demeanor, is distinguishable by his somewhat menacing, yet ultimately goofy personality. He carries a crossbow, which he affectionately refers to as “Ol’ Betsy,” adding to his comic appeal.
Trigger’s interactions with Nutsy often revolve around slapstick humor, as they both struggle to fulfill their duties. Despite his role as a villain, Trigger’s lighthearted moments and comedic exchanges make him more endearing than fearsome.
The voice of Trigger was provided by the legendary actor George Lindsey, best known for his portrayal of Goober Pyle on the classic television series The Andy Griffith Show. Lindsey’s distinct Southern drawl and comedic timing brought a charming layer of personality to Trigger, elevating the character beyond a simple sidekick role.
