Who is Yar?
Yar is a character from Disney’s animated feature film “Dinosaur,” released in 2000. In the movie, Yar is not a dinosaur but rather a lemur-like creature known as a “squirrel monkey” or simply a “monkey.” Yar is voiced by actor Ossie Davis.
Yar is a member of a small group of lemurs who live in the Lemur Island, a lush and vibrant habitat in the film’s prehistoric world. He is one of the closest companions of the film’s main character, a young Iguanodon named Aladar. Yar, along with the other lemurs, adopts Aladar into their family after he is separated from his own kind.
Yar is portrayed as a wise and caring figure among the lemurs. He has a gruff and grumpy exterior but a warm and compassionate heart. Throughout the film, he serves as a mentor and protector to Aladar and offers guidance on surviving in their challenging and dangerous environment.
As the film’s plot unfolds, Yar and the lemurs, along with Aladar, embark on a perilous journey to escape the impending extinction-level catastrophe caused by a meteor strike. Yar’s steadfastness and resourcefulness play a crucial role in helping their group navigate through various obstacles and threats.
