Who is Zack Martin?
Zachary “Zack” Martin is a central character in Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” and its spin-off, “The Suite Life on Deck.” Portrayed by Dylan Sprouse, Zack is the older twin brother—by ten minutes—of Cody Martin.
Zack is characterized as the more outgoing, rebellious, and less academically inclined twin. He often sports skater attire and is known for his mischievous pranks and schemes, frequently leading to trouble, especially under the watchful eye of Mr. Moseby, the hotel manager. Despite his laid-back approach to academics, where he maintains straight “D” grades, Zack excels in wood shop, showcasing a natural talent and interest in hands-on activities.
Throughout the series, Zack’s relationships evolve. He initially harbors a crush on Maddie Fitzpatrick, the hotel’s candy-counter girl, often referring to her as “Sweet Thang.” In “The Suite Life on Deck,” Zack matures and develops a meaningful relationship with Maya Bennett, a waitress on the S.S. Tipton. Their relationship faces challenges, culminating in a breakup in the series finale, “Graduation on Deck,” due to Maya’s commitment to the Peace Corps.
