Fantasyland Depot | Disneyland

Last Updated on: March 26th, 2024

The Fantasyland Depot was a charming and functional train station located within Disneyland, California, that operated as part of the Disneyland Railroad. This depot provided a convenient stop for guests traveling around the park on the scenic railroad, which encircles the entirety of Disneyland, offering a relaxing and nostalgic mode of transportation. The Fantasyland Depot was strategically placed to give visitors easy access to the heart of Fantasyland, a land brimming with fairy-tale charm and home to classic attractions inspired by Disney’s beloved animated films.

Opening in 1956, the Fantasyland Depot was situated near iconic attractions such as the Midget Autopia, the Motorboat Cruise, and Skull Rock, adding to the convenience and thematic consistency of the area. However, in the mid-1960s, the depot underwent significant changes. Around 1965, the original station was closed and dismantled, and the track was realigned to accommodate the construction of the “it’s a small world” attraction. This move not only reflected Disneyland’s constant evolution but also integrated the railroad more seamlessly with the park’s growing list of attractions.

The closure of the Fantasyland Depot marked the end of an era, but the Disneyland Railroad continued to serve as a beloved part of the park experience, with other stations around the park providing guests with the joy and wonder of a train ride through Disney’s magical lands. The railroad remains a testament to Walt Disney’s love for trains and his vision of offering guests a variety of experiences that capture the imagination and spirit of adventure.
