“Light Magic” was a nighttime parade and show that ran at Disneyland in California for a brief period in 1997. It premiered on May 23, 1997, and concluded its run on September 1, 1997.
“Light Magic” was a unique and ambitious production that combined illuminated floats, live performers, music, and special effects. The show aimed to tell the story of a young girl named Ellen who, with the help of her friends from the Disney animated films, brings light and magic back to Disneyland.
The parade featured floats adorned with colorful lights and fiber optics, as well as characters from Disney films, such as Aladdin, Pocahontas, and Pinocchio. It also incorporated live performers, including dancers and acrobats, who interacted with the floats and engaged the audience.
Unfortunately, “Light Magic” received mixed reviews and faced technical difficulties during its run. Due to these challenges and the mixed response from guests, the show was ultimately discontinued after just a few months. The parade route and some elements from “Light Magic” were later incorporated into the “Disney’s Electrical Parade” and other nighttime entertainment offerings at Disneyland.
