Rocket Rods | Disneyland

Last Updated on: May 26th, 2024

Rocket Rods was a former attraction at Disneyland that opened in 1998 and closed in 2000. The attraction was a high-speed thrill ride that utilized the tracks of the former PeopleMover attraction in Tomorrowland.

Guests boarded futuristic vehicles that were designed to look like sleek, streamlined rockets, and were propelled along the track at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. The ride featured sharp turns, sudden drops, and sudden stops, and provided guests with a thrilling and fast-paced experience.

However, the ride was plagued with technical issues and maintenance problems from the beginning, and it frequently broke down or experienced long wait times due to technical difficulties. The ride was also criticized for its lack of theming and poor integration with the rest of Tomorrowland.

After only two years of operation, the ride was closed in 2000 and has not been replaced by a new attraction. Today, the tracks and infrastructure of Rocket Rods remain in place, but the ride vehicles and other theming elements have been removed, and the area is used primarily for storage and maintenance.
