It was announced recently that Walt Disney Parks and Resorts was named a top honoree at the 20th annual Food Allergy Ball. Over 400 guests gathered at The Pierre in New York City to pay tribute to individuals and organizations that have made a lasting impact on the food allergy community.  Disney was named the Corporate Dinner Honoree.

Disney Parks Food Allergy FriendlinessAccording to Disney, their parks and resorts serve more than 700,000 meals annually to guests with food allergies or special diets.

“Whether it’s a tableside visit from the chef to talk about ways to modify a classic favorite or a server handing a child his own allergy-friendly menu, our cast members know each experience is unique, and they know how to handle each case,” said Mandy Bond, director of Food & Beverage Strategies and Standards, who accepted the award on behalf of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

If you have a food allergy and have been to a Disney resort, you know it is a magical place for more than just children. The abundance of food options they offer to those with allergies, as well as the individual care they provide to guests with special diets is unmatched. I have witnessed this firsthand with my family as they have bent over backwards to help us at literally every restaurant we’ve eaten at on property to accommodate a gluten allergy. Anyone with a dietary restriction lives everyday with significantly less food options available to them. Disney lets them experience a little slice of heaven for the duration of their stay.
