Secret Invasion

“Secret Invasion” is a Marvel Studios miniseries that premiered on Disney+ on June 21, 2023. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the series follows Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Skrull ally Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) as they uncover a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls led by Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir). These rebels, disillusioned by unfulfilled promises of a new homeland, infiltrate human society, posing as influential figures to incite global chaos.

The narrative delves into themes of trust and deception, highlighting the complexities of identity and loyalty. Fury, returning from his off-world assignments, confronts personal and professional challenges, while Talos grapples with internal Skrull conflicts, including tensions with his daughter G’iah (Emilia Clarke), who becomes entangled in the rebellion.

The series introduces new characters, such as MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman), and features appearances by familiar faces like James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle). “Secret Invasion” combines espionage elements with superhero action, offering a darker, more introspective addition to the MCU. The six-episode series concluded on July 26, 2023, and is available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.
