Who is Lor San Tekka?

Lor San Tekka is a character in the Star Wars universe. He was a human male who served as a member of the Church of the Force, a religious organization that followed the ways of the Jedi Order. Tekka was also an explorer and scholar who was knowledgeable about the history of the Jedi and the Force.

In the movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” Lor San Tekka is portrayed by actor Max von Sydow. He is shown to have possession of a map that leads to the location of Luke Skywalker, who had gone into exile. Tekka is killed by the First Order, a successor organization to the Galactic Empire, early in the movie, but his knowledge and the map he possessed were critical to the plot.
