Typhoon Lagoon Opens in March as Blizzard Beach Closes
Published on 3/2/23 by Craig Smith
Disney announced today that the popular Disney World water park Typhoon Lagoon will reopen on March 19th.
The park had been closed for refurbishment since November 13, 2022, but recently it was included in another Disney announcement about various resort After Hours events, so the speculation was strong that it would be reopening soon. The ticketed after hours event, titled “H2O Glow After Hours” runs from May 20-September 2 and gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the park for 3 extra hours from 8-11pm.
There was also speculation that the two water parks, located close to each other, would be open simultaneously for the first time since before the pandemic shutdown of 2020. Disney squashed those rumors today when it announced the Blizzard Beach would close on the same day Typhoon Lagoon opens.
So, if you are heading to Disney World this year, your best bet for water park tickets will be Typhoon Lagoon. It typically shuts down for refurbishment in late Fall, but you should be in the clear between now and then.
Update: Typhoon Lagoon’s reopening date has been pushed back one day to March 20th due to inclement weather forecasts.
