Who is Aunt Sarah?
Aunt Sarah is a character from Disney’s Lady and the Tramp. She is Lady’s owner’s aunt and acts as a temporary caregiver when Lady’s owners, Jim Dear and Darling, leave for a trip. Aunt Sarah, however, is not fond of dogs and has two mischievous Siamese cats, Si and Am, who cause trouble for Lady.
When Lady tries to defend the house, Aunt Sarah mistakenly believes Lady is the problem, leading her to put a muzzle on the dog. This event triggers a key moment in the story, as it leads Lady to run away, setting off the main adventure of the film.
In the original 1955 animated film, Aunt Sarah is voiced by actress Verna Felton, who was also known for her work in other Disney films, including as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland.
In the 2019 live-action/CGI hybrid remake of Lady and the Tramp, Aunt Sarah is portrayed by actress Yvette Nicole Brown. In this version, Aunt Sarah retains her role as a temporary caregiver, and her interactions with Lady are similarly pivotal to the plot.
