Who is Chi-Fu?
Chi-Fu is a supporting character in Disney’s animated film Mulan. He serves as the Emperor’s councilor and is responsible for relaying orders and reporting back to the Emperor.
Chi-Fu is known for his uptight, arrogant personality and his strict adherence to protocol, often clashing with Captain Li Shang and Mulan herself. He displays a dismissive attitude toward women and doubted Mulan’s capability when she disguised herself as a man to join the army.
Throughout the movie, Chi-Fu serves as a bit of comic relief, with his exaggerated mannerisms and cowardly behavior during intense moments. His character represents the traditional values and gender roles of the time, creating an obstacle for Mulan as she defies societal expectations.
Chi-Fu is voiced by actor James Hong, who is known for his extensive work in film and television.
