Who is Claude?
Claude is an animatronic toucan featured in the pre-show of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. He, along with his counterpart Clyde, entertains guests with humorous banter before the main show begins. Claude is characterized by his green feathers and speaks with a British accent. In the original version of the attraction, Claude was voiced by actor Sebastian Cabot.
The pre-show involves a waterfall in the queue area that opens to reveal Claude and Clyde perched on a tiki statue. They introduce themselves and share a humorous tale of how they discovered the Enchanted Tiki Room, setting the stage for the main performance.
Over the years, the attraction has undergone various updates, and the characters of Claude and Clyde have been reimagined in different versions. For instance, in “The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management,” they were recast as Hollywood agents named William and Morris, voiced by Don Rickles and Phil Hartman, respectively.
Despite these changes, the original portrayal of Claude by Sebastian Cabot remains a memorable aspect of the classic Enchanted Tiki Room experience.
