Who is Hector Rivera?
Hector Rivera is a character from the Disney/Pixar animated film “Coco.” He is the great-great-grandfather of the main character Miguel, and a musician who was once a member of a successful family band, but was later banned from playing music by his wife Imelda, Miguel’s great-great-grandmother.
Hector Rivera becomes Miguel’s guide and mentor in the Land of the Dead, helping him to understand his family’s history and to pursue his passion for music. He is voiced by actor Gael García Bernal in the film.
The movie is set in Mexico and follows the story of Miguel, a young boy who dreams of becoming a musician like his hero, Ernesto de la Cruz, but his family forbids him from playing music due to a generations-old ban. With the help of Hector, Miguel embarks on a journey to the Land of the Dead to discover the truth about his family history and to fulfill his dream.
