Who is Jose?

José is one of the main animatronic birds in Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, a popular attraction at Disneyland that debuted in 1963.

Designed to transport guests to a tropical paradise, the Tiki Room is filled with colorful birds, flowers, and tikis, all singing and performing in harmony. José stands out as a bright red macaw with a bold personality and a distinctive Latin accent, bringing a vibrant energy to the show. Known for his catchphrase, “¡Olé, olé! It’s showtime!” José kicks off the performance alongside his three fellow hosts: Michael (an Irish-accented parrot), Pierre (a French-accented parrot), and Fritz (a German-accented parrot). Together, they lead the enchanted cast of animatronic birds, flowers, and tikis in a lively, upbeat musical show that became an instant classic among Disney fans.

José was voiced by Wally Boag, a renowned Disney entertainer and comedian. Boag was famous for his performances at Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe Revue, where he combined humor and slapstick in ways that thrilled audiences.
