Who is Merlock the Magician?

Merlock the Magician is a powerful and sinister villain from Disney’s DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990).

As a sorcerer with incredible magical abilities, Merlock serves as the film’s main antagonist, obsessively seeking ultimate power. His character is defined by his ruthless and manipulative nature, as well as his unrelenting desire to control the Genie’s magic to reshape the world according to his whims.

Merlock’s signature item is a magical talisman that grants him the ability to transform into various animals, including a hawk and a rat. He is also immortal, thanks to the talisman’s powers. His dark personality contrasts sharply with the fun-loving and adventurous DuckTales cast, particularly Scrooge McDuck, who becomes his primary rival in the film. Merlock’s menacing presence drives much of the movie’s conflict, as he pursues Scrooge and his nephews to reclaim the Genie’s lamp.

The character was voiced by the legendary actor Christopher Lloyd, best known for his roles in Back to the Future as Doc Brown and Who Framed Roger Rabbit as Judge Doom.
