Who is Mertle Edmonds?

Mertle Edmonds is a recurring character in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch franchise. She is a young girl who lives in the same Hawaiian town as Lilo Pelekai and is often portrayed as Lilo’s primary antagonist among her peers.

Mertle is part of a clique of popular girls and frequently teases and ostracizes Lilo for her eccentric behavior and close bond with Stitch, whom Mertle disdainfully refers to as a “weird dog.” Despite her mean-spirited nature, Mertle occasionally reveals vulnerabilities, such as her desire to maintain her social status or her insecurities about her own life.

Mertle is depicted with red hair styled in pigtails, glasses, and a pink outfit that complements her privileged and self-centered personality. While she’s often antagonistic, her actions stem more from immaturity and peer pressure than true malice. In various episodes of Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Mertle’s interactions with Lilo and Stitch showcase her as a comedic foil rather than a traditional villain.
