Who is Stinky Pete the Prospector?

Stinky Pete the Prospector is a memorable antagonist from Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 2.

As a vintage pull-string doll, he is part of the iconic “Woody’s Roundup” gang, alongside Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye. Stinky Pete’s character is depicted as the wise but cantankerous prospector who initially appears as a helpful ally to Woody and Jessie. However, his true nature as the film’s villain is revealed as the story progresses.

Having spent decades sealed in his original packaging, Stinky Pete harbors deep resentment toward being overlooked by children in favor of other toys. This bitterness fuels his desire to be displayed in a museum in Japan, ensuring his permanent admiration rather than risking the rejection that comes with being played with by a child. His manipulative and self-serving demeanor starkly contrasts with the optimistic, adventurous personalities of Woody and his friends. Stinky Pete’s treachery ultimately leads to his downfall, and he is humorously left with a new child who uses him as a canvas for finger painting.

The character of Stinky Pete is voiced by the talented Kelsey Grammer, an Emmy-winning actor best known for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in Cheers and Frasier.
