Who is The Dreamfinder?

The Dreamfinder is a beloved character from Disney’s Epcot, introduced in 1983 as part of the original Journey Into Imagination attraction at the Imagination Pavilion.

Created by Disney Imagineering, the Dreamfinder is a whimsical and imaginative figure who serves as a mentor and guide to Figment, a mischievous purple dragon symbolizing the power of creativity and imagination. Together, they explore the wonders of art, science, literature, and music, encouraging guests to unleash their own creativity.

The Dreamfinder, with his top hat, red beard, and vibrant personality, embodies the spirit of imagination. He collects ideas and sparks inspiration using his “dream-catching” contraption, a machine that captures clouds of ideas to help create new ones. His role in the attraction was central to its charm, combining humor, warmth, and a sense of wonder.

Actor Ron Schneider brought the Dreamfinder to life in the original attraction, portraying him in live performances at Epcot. Schneider’s engaging and theatrical portrayal helped cement the character as a fan favorite. Although the Dreamfinder was retired after the 1999 revamp of the attraction into Journey Into Your Imagination, he remains an iconic figure in Disney history and a symbol of creative exploration for many fans.
