Who is Walter?

Walter is a charming and enthusiastic Muppet character who made his debut in The Muppets (2011), the first theatrical Muppet film in over a decade.

As the ultimate Muppet superfan, Walter embodies wide-eyed optimism and genuine love for the Muppets, making him an endearing addition to the franchise. He is the younger brother of Gary (played by Jason Segel) and grew up in Smalltown, where he felt out of place due to his unique Muppet appearance and diminutive size. Despite this, Walter finds solace and inspiration in the world of the Muppets, becoming their biggest admirer.

In The Muppets, Walter joins Gary and his girlfriend Mary (played by Amy Adams) on a trip to Los Angeles, where they discover that the Muppet Theater is in danger of being destroyed. Walter plays a pivotal role in reuniting the Muppets and ultimately discovers his talent for whistling, which becomes a centerpiece of the group’s efforts to save their theater.

Walter was performed and voiced by Peter Linz, a veteran puppeteer known for his work on various children’s television programs.
