Hollywood & Dine | Disneyland

Last Updated on: March 26th, 2024

Hollywood & Dine was a dining experience located in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area of Disney’s California Adventure Park, designed to transport guests back to the Golden Age of Hollywood. It opened its doors when the park launched in 2001 but had a relatively short lifespan, closing in 2002. The concept behind Hollywood & Dine was to offer guests a taste of Hollywood’s past by replicating the ambiance and culinary offerings of historic Hollywood eateries frequented by movie stars when they were not on set.

The dining area featured four distinct counters, each inspired by legendary Hollywood establishments such as Don the Beachcomber, known for its Pacific Rim cuisine; Wilshire Bowl, specializing in burgers and chicken sandwiches; Villa Capri, offering gourmet pizzas; and Schwab’s Pharmacy, serving traditional deli sandwiches and soups. These thematic counters not only provided a variety of dining options but also paid homage to the rich history of Hollywood’s dining culture, from the exotic flavors of the Pacific Rim to classic American diner fare.

Despite its innovative theme and immersive setting, Hollywood & Dine struggled with guest attendance and ultimately closed, becoming a victim of the park’s early challenges with attracting visitors. After its closure, the space underwent various transformations, including serving as a venue for private functions and a temporary Annual Pass Processing Center, before being repurposed for other uses within the park.

Today, the legacy of Hollywood & Dine reflects the evolving nature of Disney California Adventure, highlighting the park’s continuous efforts to reinvent and enhance guest experiences through thematic dining and entertainment offerings.
