David Schwimmer Takes the Lead in Disney+’s ‘Goosebumps’ Season 2

After the successful debut of the series in October 2023, based on R.L. Stine’s beloved book series and produced by Scholastic, the streaming platform announced the continuation of the series in February. With a fresh storyline and ensemble, season two promises to captivate audiences anew. Schwimmer’s involvement marks the first casting reveal for the upcoming season.

 

The narrative for the forthcoming season centers on teenage siblings as they stumble upon a looming threat. Their investigation into a disturbing mystery leads them to the eerie disappearance of four teenagers in 1994, setting the stage for a gripping adventure. Schwimmer is slated to portray Anthony, a character grappling with the dual challenges of caring for his aging parent and managing his teenage twins during a summer of unexpected turmoil. Anthony’s background as a botany professor potentially ties the season’s theme to the “Goosebumps” installment, “Stay Out of the Basement,” enriching the plot with a scientific twist.

 

Renowned for his portrayal of Ross Geller in the iconic sitcom “Friends,” Schwimmer’s career has spanned a variety of roles that showcase his versatile acting prowess. From his Emmy-nominated performance in “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story” to notable appearances in “Band of Brothers,” “Intelligence,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Schwimmer has demonstrated a consistent ability to engage and entertain audiences. His contributions to film, including the “Madagascar” series, further highlight his broad appeal and talent.

 

The creative minds behind the adaptation of “Goosebumps” to television include Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, who also serve as executive producers.
