Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to undergo a significant transformation with the closure of the DINOSAUR attraction in 2026, making way for the new Tropical Americas land. This development is part of a broader initiative to reimagine DinoLand U.S.A., introducing experiences inspired by “Encanto” and Indiana Jones.

Initial speculation had the ride closing much sooner, so this news is sure to be well received by DINOAUR fans, especially the non-local fans that now have more time to visit the park and enjoy the ride one last time.

The closure of DINOSAUR is scheduled for 2026, allowing guests ample time to experience the ride before it becomes extinct. In the meantime, other attractions in DinoLand U.S.A. will begin to close earlier; for instance, TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures are set to close permanently on January 13, 2025.

The forthcoming Tropical Americas land, named Pueblo Esperanza, will encompass 11 acres and feature attractions such as the first-ever “Encanto“-themed ride and a new Indiana Jones adventure. This expansion aims to immerse guests in the rich biodiversity of Central and South America, aligning with Animal Kingdom’s dedication to celebrating diverse cultures and natural environments.

As Disney progresses with these plans, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the existing DinoLand U.S.A. attractions before they close. The transformation reflects Disney’s commitment to evolving its parks, offering fresh and engaging experiences that resonate with guests of all ages.
