Disney Enhances Soarin’ with Stunning EPCOT Finale and Eiffel Tower Fix
Published on 11/21/24 by Craig Smith
Disney has recently enhanced EPCOT’s Soarin’ Around the World attraction by addressing two longstanding issues: the distorted Eiffel Tower scene and the outdated Future World finale.
Previously, guests seated off-center experienced a bent appearance of the Eiffel Tower due to the curved screen’s projection. One of the biggest buzzkills after waiting in the long Soarin queue is to get to the attraction and be placed on one of the wings. The “crooked Eiffel” was pretty jarring.
To rectify this, Disney re-shot the Paris segment from a greater distance, providing a more natural and upright view of the monument, thereby enhancing the immersive experience.
Additionally, the attraction’s finale has been updated to reflect EPCOT’s recent transformations. The original ending showcased the now-defunct Future World, which has since evolved into World Celebration. The new scene offers a sweeping aerial view of World Celebration Gardens, highlighting the central in-ground lighting effects of the EPCOT logo and the nighttime glow of Spaceship Earth, accompanied by nearby fireworks.
These updates not only correct visual inconsistencies but also align the attraction with EPCOT’s current layout, providing guests with a more cohesive and visually appealing experience.
