The documentary is billed as a heartfelt tribute to The Beach Boys, whose harmonious melodies and sun-soaked narratives have become emblematic of the Californian dream, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of audiences across multiple generations.

Featuring a treasure trove of unseen footage and new conversations with the surviving members—Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston—this documentary offers an unprecedented glimpse into the group’s storied past. Adding depth and variety to the narrative, music luminaries like Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was share their insights, alongside contributions from former members Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar. The documentary will also honor the memory of the late Carl and Dennis Wilson through archival interviews, ensuring their voices contribute to the story.

Production is led by Kennedy/Marshall and White Horse Pictures, featuring a distinguished team of producers and executive producers such as Irving Azoff, Nicholas Ferrall, Jeanne Elfant Festa, Aly Parker, and Nigel Sinclair, among others.

In sync with the documentary’s premiere, fans will be treated to the release of the soundtrack, allowing them to relive the musical journey beyond the screen. In a nod to nostalgia, The Beach Boys’ 1964 hit album “Shut Down Vol. 2” will see a special release in a limited edition blue-and-white marble vinyl, commemorating this cinematic homage. Additionally, the band’s definitive story will be encapsulated in “The Beach Boys by the Beach Boys,” a book slated for release through Genesis Publications.

This announcement follows the success of Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” movie and Peter Jackson’s Beatles documentary series “Get Back,” underscoring Disney+’s commitment to delivering rich, music-themed content to its platform. As “The Beach Boys” documentary prepares to make waves, it invites viewers to immerse themselves in the legacy of a band that not only shaped the sound of a generation but also the very fabric of pop music history.
