Lloyd in Space (One Saturday Morning Show)

“Lloyd in Space” is an animated television series that aired on ABC’s One Saturday Morning programming block from February 3, 2001, to February 2, 2002, and later on Toon Disney (now Disney XD) from January 11, 2002, to May 3, 2004. The show was created by Joe Ansolabehere and Paul Germain, who were also the creators of “Recess” and “Hey Arnold!”

The series is set in the future and follows the adventures of Lloyd Nebulon, a young green-skinned alien boy who lives in the Intrepidville Space Station. Lloyd is an average teenager facing everyday challenges, but with a twist—he lives in space and attends Galactic High School, where students from different planets and species come together.

As the show’s protagonist, Lloyd (voiced by Courtland Mead) navigates the typical struggles of adolescence, such as fitting in, dealing with bullies, managing schoolwork, and having crushes, all while experiencing the unique aspects of living in space. Lloyd’s friends include his best friends Eddie R. Horton (a brainy robot voiced by Bill Fagerbakke) and Kurt Blobberts (a blob-like alien voiced by Justin Shenkarow).

Throughout the series, “Lloyd in Space” combines humor, science fiction, and coming-of-age themes. The show’s episodes often explore the cultural differences and diversity among the characters, highlighting the importance of acceptance and friendship regardless of one’s origins.

“Lloyd in Space” received positive reviews for its creative setting and entertaining storytelling, making it a popular show among young audiences during its original run. The series provided a fresh take on the typical teenage sitcom, offering a colorful and imaginative space-based twist.
