Who is Doorknob?

he Doorknob is a fictional character from the 1865 novel “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, and is featured in the animated Disney movie “Alice in Wonderland” (1951).

Doorknob (Alice in Wonderland)

In the story, the Doorknob is a talking, anthropomorphic doorknob that Alice encounters when she first arrives in Wonderland. The Doorknob is initially uncooperative, but eventually allows Alice to enter the room beyond the door after she tries various methods to gain entry. Later in the story, Alice becomes trapped in the White Rabbit’s house, and the Doorknob serves as an escape route by transforming into a door himself.

In the Disney movie, the Doorknob is depicted as a large, ornate brass doorknob with a prominent nose and a friendly personality. The character is voiced by actor and comedian Joseph Kearns. The Doorknob’s iconic line from the movie is “Read the directions and directly you will be directed in the right direction,” which serves as a cryptic clue to Alice as she tries to navigate through Wonderland.
