Who is Gladstone Gander?

Gladstone Gander is a character from the DuckTales franchise, part of the broader Duck Universe created by Disney.

First introduced in Carl Barks’ Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories in 1948, Gladstone is the cousin of Donald Duck and possesses an extraordinary level of luck that seems to accompany him wherever he goes. His life is marked by incredible fortune, which allows him to succeed effortlessly, much to the frustration of his family, especially Donald. This luck enables Gladstone to avoid work, evade danger, and acquire wealth or rewards with minimal effort, making him appear lazy and self-satisfied. Despite this, he is often portrayed as somewhat dim-witted, overly confident, and arrogant, believing himself superior due to his constant good luck.

In the original DuckTales animated series from the late 1980s, Gladstone Gander’s character was voiced by Rob Paulsen, a renowned voice actor. In the 2017 DuckTales reboot, he was voiced by Paul F. Tompkins, bringing a new flair to the character while retaining his trademark smugness and laziness.
