Who is Melody?

Melody is the spirited and adventurous daughter of Ariel and Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, Disney’s direct-to-video sequel to the 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid.

Born into the royal family, Melody grows up in Eric’s castle by the sea but is kept unaware of her mermaid heritage and the magical undersea world of Atlantica. Her parents hide this part of her identity to protect her from Ursula’s revenge-driven sister, Morgana, who poses a threat to Melody’s safety.

Despite their precautions, Melody is drawn to the ocean and feels a profound connection to it, much like her mother did in the original film. When she discovers a magical locket revealing her ties to Atlantica, Melody embarks on a daring journey to uncover the truth. Her curiosity leads her to Morgana, who manipulates Melody into helping her seize power in exchange for transforming her into a mermaid. Over the course of the film, Melody learns valuable lessons about identity, family, and courage.

Melody is voiced by Tara Strong, a prominent voice actress known for her work in animated films and series.
