Who is Robin Hood?
Robin Hood is the charming and witty fox who takes center stage in Disney’s 1973 animated feature film, Robin Hood.
Based on the legendary English folk hero, Disney’s Robin Hood is portrayed as an anthropomorphic fox who embodies bravery, resourcefulness, and compassion. True to the legend, Robin is an outlaw who steals from the rich to give to the poor, standing up against the greed and corruption of Prince John, a cowardly and self-serving lion serving as the stand-in ruler of England. Robin Hood is accompanied by his loyal companion Little John, a bear, and his love interest Maid Marian, a vixen who shares his kindness and courage.
Robin Hood is not only a skilled archer and master of disguise but also a beloved leader of the oppressed townspeople of Nottingham, who are burdened by Prince John’s excessive taxes. Despite his outlaw status, Robin’s charm and wit make him a hero in the eyes of the common folk.
The voice of Robin Hood was provided by Brian Bedford, a distinguished English actor best known for his work on stage, particularly in Shakespearean roles.
