Rutt and Tuke brother bearWho is Rutt and Tuke?

Rutt and Tuke are two moose characters from Disney’s animated film Brother Bear (2003). Known for their comedic and endearing personalities, they serve as the film’s comic relief, bringing levity to the otherwise emotional and transformative journey of the protagonist, Kenai. Rutt and Tuke are quintessential “buddy characters” whose playful banter and sibling-like dynamic create a memorable presence in the story.

The two moose are introduced as somewhat clueless but well-meaning companions who offer Kenai unexpected support during his quest to become human again after being transformed into a bear. Their dialogue, filled with playful teasing and classic Canadian stereotypes, provides humorous commentary on the events unfolding around them. Despite their bumbling nature, Rutt and Tuke show heart and loyalty, and their own relationship mirrors themes of brotherhood and reconciliation central to the film.

The characters are voiced by Canadian comedians Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas, famous for their work as Bob and Doug McKenzie in the cult comedy SCTV and the film Strange Brew.
