Who is Tanana?

Tanana is a wise and mystical shaman character from Disney’s 2003 animated film Brother Bear.

Serving as the spiritual guide for the tribe, she plays a pivotal role in the journey of the protagonist, Kenai. After Kenai’s brother Sitka sacrifices himself to save Kenai and their other brother Denahi from a bear, Kenai seeks revenge on the bear, leading to disastrous consequences. Upon killing the bear, Kenai is transformed into one himself by the Great Spirits as a lesson about the interconnectedness of all living beings. Tanana facilitates Kenai’s understanding of this transformation, emphasizing the spiritual bonds between humans and nature.
