Who is The Ghost Host?
The Ghost Host is an iconic character from Disney’s Haunted Mansion attractions, serving as the eerie, omnipresent narrator who guides visitors through the mansion.
The Ghost Host introduces guests to the lore and residents of the Haunted Mansion, setting the tone with his dry humor, chilling wit, and an invitation to consider becoming “the 1,000th happy haunt.” His voice is heard as part of the attraction’s atmospheric narration, delivered in a deep and resonant tone that blends macabre humor with an air of mystery.
The Ghost Host was brought to life by Paul Frees, a renowned voice actor often referred to as the “Man of a Thousand Voices.” Frees lent his vocal talents to numerous Disney projects, including providing the voice of Ludwig Von Drake and several Pirates of the Caribbean characters. His distinctive voice for the Ghost Host has become one of the most memorable aspects of the Haunted Mansion experience, delighting and unnerving visitors since the attraction’s debut in 1969.
