Who is Vanessa?

Vanessa is a character from Disney’s animated film “The Little Mermaid,” released in 1989. She serves as the primary antagonist of the film during its climax.

Vanessa is actually the human form of the sea witch Ursula, who uses her magical powers to disguise herself and appear as a beautiful woman. She does this to seduce Prince Eric, whom Ariel, the film’s protagonist, loves.

During the movie, Ariel makes a deal with Ursula to become human for three days in exchange for her voice. Ursula then takes on the guise of Vanessa and bewitches Eric to make him believe she is the one he loves. This deception drives much of the film’s conflict and tension.

Vanessa’s character is portrayed as cunning and manipulative, using her enchanting beauty to her advantage. However, her true nature is eventually revealed during a climactic scene at the end of the film when Ariel and Eric are married. Vanessa’s disguise is undone, and she reverts to her true form as Ursula.
