Who is White Rabbit?

The White Rabbit is a beloved character from Disney’s 1951 animated film Alice in Wonderland.

Adapted from Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the White Rabbit is a frantic, time-obsessed figure who serves as the catalyst for Alice’s journey into Wonderland. Dressed in a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch, he is famously heard exclaiming, “I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date!” This urgency and his hurried demeanor capture Alice’s curiosity, prompting her to follow him down the rabbit hole into a world of whimsy and wonder.

In the original animated feature, the White Rabbit was voiced by actor Bill Thompson, who also provided voices for other notable Disney characters, such as Mr. Smee in Peter Pan and Jock in Lady and the Tramp. Thompson’s distinct voice brought a blend of anxiety and charm to the White Rabbit, making him an unforgettable part of Disney’s rendition of Carroll’s classic tale.
