“Shadowland” is a song from the 1997 musical “The Lion King“, which is based on the 1994 Disney animated film of the same name. The song is sung by the character of Nala, and later joined by the rest of the female chorus, as she sets off to find help for her struggling homeland, which has been taken over by Scar’s hyenas. The song is known for its powerful lyrics and African-inspired melody, and is often cited as a fan favorite from the show. “Shadowland” was composed by South African composer Lebo M, with lyrics by Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and Lebo M himself. It has since been performed in many adaptations of “The Lion King”, including the 2019 live-action remake.
