Affection Section (Disney World)Affection Section was an interactive petting zoo attraction located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. It was part of Rafiki’s Planet Watch, an area dedicated to wildlife conservation and education.

The Affection Section provided guests with a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with various domesticated animals in a safe and supervised environment. It featured a petting area with friendly and gentle animals, such as goats, sheep, pigs, and other small creatures.

Guests of all ages were invited to interact with the animals, gently petting and feeding them under the guidance of trained cast members. This hands-on experience allowed visitors to learn more about the animals’ behavior, care, and importance in our ecosystem.

The Affection Section aimed to promote animal awareness, respect, and empathy, fostering a deeper connection between guests and the animal kingdom. It was a favorite attraction for families, especially younger children, who enjoyed the chance to meet and interact with animals they might not encounter regularly.

In addition to the petting zoo, Rafiki’s Planet Watch offered other educational experiences, including conservation exhibits, behind-the-scenes glimpses into animal care, and opportunities to learn from Disney’s team of animal experts and veterinarians.

I am founder and editor of DisneyNews.us. My passion for all things Disney goes pretty far back to my first trip to Walt Disney World in the mid-80's. I have since returned to the magical place more than 20 times. I started this site when I came to the realization that I spent a significant portion of my day reading articles about Disney and watching Disney content with my 8-year old, so it made sense that I would start sharing some of what I read and see and building a little community around it. Other interests include 80's nostalgia, vintage toys, video games, LEGO, Star Wars and tech gadgets. Other site isDMR.
