The Shanghai Disney Resort has officially unveiled a major expansion, signaling the next evolution of its immersive resort experience in China. Marking the milestone of welcoming its 100 millionth guest since opening in 2016, the resort is doubling down on its destination credentials by announcing a fourth Disney‑themed hotel and a significant enhancement of its adjacent shopping, dining and entertainment district.

The new hotel will be strategically positioned just steps from the main entrance of Shanghai Disneyland – making it the resort’s closest accommodation offering yet. Guests can expect immersive Disney storytelling from the moment they arrive, with premium touches and exclusive resort‑access amenities designed to extend the magic beyond the theme park gates.

Alongside the hotel, the resort is expanding its “Disneytown” shopping and entertainment district with new retail venues, dining concepts and entertainment experiences. This move caters to longer stays and aims to broaden the appeal of the resort as a full vacation destination – not just a day‑trip park.

In addition to these headline developments, the resort’s broader expansion blueprint includes a third themed hotel currently under construction, an upcoming ninth themed land, and enhancements to key attractions such as the capacity‑boosted “Soaring Over the Horizon” experience.

As competition in China’s theme‑park market intensifies, this expansion underscores Shanghai Disney Resort’s commitment to staying ahead – blending premium accommodations, curated entertainment and immersive environments to capture growing domestic and international guest demand.
