Who is Big Al?
Big Al is a beloved character from the Country Bear Jamboree, a classic animatronic stage show at various Disney theme parks, including Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
He is one of the most recognizable bears in the show, known for his deep, gravelly voice, comedic timing, and melancholic songs.
Big Al is a large, slow-moving bear who plays the guitar and performs the humorous, slightly depressing song “Blood on the Saddle.” His exaggerated personality, combined with his downbeat yet endearing performances, makes him a fan-favorite in the show. Despite his serious appearance, Big Al’s performances are designed to be humorous, offering comic relief as part of the show’s variety of musical acts by a cast of different bear characters.
Big Al was originally voiced by Tex Ritter, a well-known country music singer and actor from the mid-20th century. Ritter’s distinct voice helped bring Big Al to life and gave the character his signature performance style.
