Who is Perdita?

Perdita is a central character in Disney’s classic animated film One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961), based on Dodie Smith’s novel. She is a graceful and loving Dalmatian, the mate of Pongo, and the devoted mother of 15 Dalmatian puppies. Perdita is characterized by her nurturing demeanor, gentle strength, and unwavering courage, particularly when it comes to protecting her family. Alongside Pongo, she embarks on a daring rescue mission to save her puppies, who have been kidnapped by Cruella De Vil for her twisted fashion schemes. Her maternal instincts and determination make her a beloved character.

In the original animated film, Perdita’s voice was provided by actress Cate Bauer, who captured her tenderness and resolve beautifully. In Disney’s 1996 live-action adaptation of the story, 101 Dalmatians, Perdita was portrayed as a live Dalmatian rather than an animated character, with her personality expressed through behavior rather than a voice.
