Who is Rex the Dinosaur?
Rex the Dinosaur is a lovable, anxiety-prone Tyrannosaurus rex from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story franchise. Despite his fierce appearance, Rex is far from intimidating. He’s characterized by his nervous demeanor, self-doubt, and a constant fear of being replaced by newer, cooler toys. Rex’s oversized personality is often at odds with his small self-esteem, and he frequently worries about not being “scary enough” as a dinosaur. However, his sweet nature, loyalty to his friends, and moments of unexpected bravery make him an essential member of Andy’s toy family.
Rex is depicted as a toy with a plastic green body, stubby arms, and a big head, adding to his comedic charm. Over the series, he plays pivotal roles, such as helping Buzz Lightyear and Woody during their adventures, and provides much of the humor with his witty one-liners and exaggerated fears.
The voice of Rex is brought to life by actor and comedian Wallace Shawn, whose distinct, high-pitched tone perfectly complements Rex’s quirky personality.
