“Set It Off” is a song from the 2015 Disney Channel Original Movie “Descendants“. The movie is about the children of famous Disney villains who attend a prep school alongside the children of Disney heroes, and the song is performed by the main cast of the film. In the song, the characters Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos express their desire to break away from their parents’ evil legacies and “set it off” by making a new name for themselves. “Set It Off” was written by the songwriting and production team of Rock Mafia, and is known for its upbeat pop/rock sound and catchy chorus. The song was one of the biggest hits from the “Descendants” soundtrack, and was followed by a sequel, “Descendants 2“, in 2017.
